Spam Scoring Levels

With the Spam Scoring Levels feature, you can tell Barracuda how hard to look for spam in your email messages.

If you feel that it is already doing a good job, and you are not receiving much spam, you do not need to make any changes to this option.

If you feel you are receiving a lot of spam, and would like to modify the settings, you must make the appropriate changes.

  1. Make sure that you check the "NO" box under "Use System Defaults". Then press the top "Save Changes" button to tell Barracuda that you do not want to use its default settings.

  2. Make the desired settings to "Tag Score". If you have received any messages in your client's email address with a subject of ***** SPAM *****, this is a direct result of the "Tag Score" option in Barracuda.

    • If you want to disable the ***** SPAM ***** tagging, type the number 10 into the "Tag Score" box.

    • If you want to every message that comes into your email client to have the ***** SPAM ***** tag on it, set the "Tag Score" to 0.

    • Remember that the lower the number, the more messages Barracuda will tag as ***** SPAM *****. The higher the number, the fewer messages Barracuda will tag.

  3. Make the desired settings to "Quarantine Score". If you feel that you are receiving a lot of spam in your email client, this would be the best option to set correctly.

    • If you want to disable messages from entering the Quarantine Inbox and go directly to your email client, set the "Quarantine Score" to 10.

    • If you want to every message that is sent to you to automatically go into your Quarantine Inbox, set the "Quarantine Score" to 0.

    • Remember that the lower the number, the more messages Barracuda will put in your Quarantine Inbox. The higher the number, the fewer messages Barracuda will automatically send to its Quarantine Inbox.

  4. Make the desired settings to "Block Score".
Note that modifying this option incorrectly can result in getting absolutely no mail sent to your email client or getting sent to your Quarantine Inbox.

    • If you want to disable message blocking in Barracuda, which means that the worst spam identified by Barracuda will come in regardless of how bad it is, set the "Block Score" to 10.

    • If you want to every message that is sent to you to be automatically blocked from your email regardless of who the sender is, set the "Block Score" to 0.

    • Remember that the lower the number, the more messages Barracuda will block from coming in. The higher the number, the fewer messages Barracuda will automatically block.

  5. After making the desired settings to the Tag, Quarantine, and Block scores, be sure to press the bottom "Save Changes" button to apply any or all changes you have just made.
