Configuring the Barracuda
Quarantine Inbox

Working with the quarantine inbox is actually quite simple.

Any messages that are classified as heavy spam will be held in this location.

As a user, you have several options on controlling your spam from this view:

  1. You can never check the Barracuda Quarantine Inbox, allowing spam to build up in this inbox as it will never reach your email client's inbox anyway.
(i.e.- Outlook Express, Netscape Messenger, Eudora, Incredimail...)

  2. You can visit the Barracuda Quarantine Inbox frequently to see if you are missing any email that someone may have sent you.

  3. You can visit the Barracuda Quarantine Inbox whenever you have verified with the sender that they have sent you a message, but you have not received it.

If you happen to see a message residing in the quarantine inbox that you feel was tagged as spam by mistake, sending it to your email client is as easy as a click of the mouse button.

On the far right side of the message you wish to keep, you will see 3 options. They are labeled as follows: Deliver, Whitelist, and Delete.

  • If you select Deliver, Barracuda will automatically remove that particular message from the quarantine inbox and deliver it directly to your email client.

  • If you select Whitelist, Barracuda will automatically whitelist that sender's address.
Whitelisting means the address you selected to whitelist will ALWAYS be delivered to your email client's inbox without being questioned by Barracuda.
Note: If you accidentally whitelist an address you did not want to be whitelisted, you can remove its status in Barracuda's preferences.

  • Delete means exactly what it says. If you press delete, it will remove it from the quarantine inbox and will never be delivered to your email client.
Note: If you accidentally delete an email from the quarantine inbox that you did not want to delete, unfortunately there is no way to get it back. You will have to ask the sender to re-send the message.

If you would like to Deliver, Whitelist, or Delete more than one message at once, you can check the checkbox next to each email you want to Deliver, Whitelist, or Delete, and select one of the options at the top. This will allow you to perform the same action to multiple emails within your quarantine inbox.
