Setting Up the PC

Before you can get into your new D-Link DSL-504 single port modem, you will need to have the computer's ethernet interface to be set up for DHCP, **OR** you will have to set up a static IP address.

Use the following address information if setting up a static IP in the computer's ethernet interface:

IP ADDRESS: 192.168.0.10
SUBNET MASK: 255.255.255.0
GATEWAY: 192.168.0.1

PRIMARY DNS: 216.129.224.1
SECONDARY DNS: 216.220.0.1

Logging Into, Modifying and Saving the Configuration

  1. Open your web browser and type in the following address in the location bar: http://192.168.0.1 (or whatever you may have changed the default IP address to) and press enter.

  2. Click on the "Login to the web-based management module" button.

  3. Type in the username and the password for the modem.

    The default username is: admin
    The default password is: admin

    Click OK.

  4. Click the "Connection Type" entry on the left side of the browser window.

  5. Change the "Encapsulation Protocol" to Router with RFC1483.

  6. Click OK. Then click OK again when nhe notice window pops up.

  7. Click the "Save Changes" entry on the left side of the browser window.

  8. Click the "Save Configuration" button, then click the "Restart" button and wait for the "Login to the web-based management module" button to re-appear.

  9. If the page asks for a username and password again, refer to step 3 then continue to step 10. If it does not, skip this step and continue to step 10.

  10. You should be presented with a screen asking for a static IP address.

  11. You can type in the IP address, subnet mask, and default gateway which were assigned to you on your ADSL data sheet in this packet.
  12. Click OK. Then click OK again when nhe notice window pops up.

  13. Click the "DHCP Configuration" entry on the left side of the browser window.

  14. Add the "DNS Server IP" of 216.129.224.1

  15. Click OK. Then click OK again when nhe notice window pops up.

  16. Click the "Save Changes" entry on the left side of the browser window.

  17. Click the "Save Configuration" button, then click the "Restart" button and wait for the "Login to the web-based management module" button to re-appear.




Congratulations! You are now done configuring your D-Link DSL-504 Single Port ADSL modem.
