Before you can get into your new Speedstream 5667 single port modem, you will need to have the computer's ethernet interface to be set up for DHCP, **OR** you will have to set up a static IP address.

Use the following address information if setting up a static IP in the computer's ethernet interface:

IP ADDRESS: 192.168.254.10
SUBNET MASK: 255.255.255.0
GATEWAY: 192.168.254.254

PRIMARY DNS: 216.129.224.1
SECONDARY DNS: 216.220.0.1

1. Open your web browser and type in the following address in the location bar: http://192.168.254.254 (or whatever you may have changed the default IP address to) and press enter.


2. Type in the username and the password for your router.
   
   The default username is: admin
   The default password is: admin
   
   Click OK.


3. Click on the "Advanced Setup" link on the upper left corner of the browser window.


4. Click the "WAN Virtual Connection" link on the left side of the browser window.


5. Click on the "2684" button.


6. Click "Encapsulation Type: Ethernet (1483B)"


7. Enter the following information:
   
   VCI: 0
   VPI: 35
   Multiplexing Method: LLC
   Rate: Max
   Check the radio button named: Use the following static IP address
   IP Address: IP assigned by Nemont
   IP Netmask: Subnet assigned by Nemont
   
   Click Apply.


8. Click on the "DNS" link on the left side of the browser window.


9. In the "IP Address" field, type the following DNS server addresses:
   
   
   1. 216.129.224.1 then click Add Server.
   2. 216.220.0.1 then click Add Server.
   3. 216.220.30.1 then click Add Server.


10. Click the "IP Routing and RIP Configuration" option on the left side of the browser window.


11. Click on "Configure the IP gateway (default router)".


12. Type the gateway that Nemont assigned you into the "Enter new IP address" box then click "Apply".


13. Click on "Configuration must be SAVED" at the bottom of the screen.


14. Click the "Save Configuration" button.
