Setting Up the PC

Before you can get into your new StarSmart Wireless modem, you will need to have the computer's ethernet interface to be set up for DHCP, **OR** you will have to set up a static IP address.

Logging Into the StarSmart

OK, now that you have your computer set up for DHCP or a static IP address, log in to the StarSmart Wireless ADSL modem.

In order to login, open a web browser, (Internet Explorer works best for this), and in the address bar type in the following IP address.

192.168.7.1

After you input the IP address, press the "GO" button or press "ENTER" on your keyboard to access the page. If everything goes as anticipated, you will see a login screen prompting for username and password. (Above)

At this point in the process, input the username and the password as follows:
(Make sure both username and password are capitalized)

PASSWORD: DSL

After inputing the username and password, simply press the "Log In" button on the bottom right side of the login screen. You will be redirected to the default home page of the modem.

Setup

To begin configuring your StarSmart Wireless ADSL modem, you need to start by clicking on the "Connection0" link on the left side of the setup screen.

Now that we're on "Connection0", you need to change our connection type. To do this, you need to click the "Type" dropdown menu and select "Static". After choosing static, the page will refresh and you should notice that there are more setup requirements now.

When configuring the modem, there are only 5 or 6 locations that need to be modified. They are listed as followed:

IP Address ( IP ASSIGNED BY NEMONT )
Subnet Mask ( SUBNET ASSIGNED BY NEMONT )
Gateway IP Address ( GATEWAY ASSIGNED BY NEMONT )

DNS 1 ( 216.129.224.1 )
DNS 2 ( 216.220.0.1 )
DNS 3 ( 216.220.30.1 ) *not required

Once you are done configuring what is necessary on the setup screen, you must apply those changes by simply pressing the "Apply" button at the bottom of the page.

After pressing "Apply", a message window will pop up stating "You may lose any existing connections in case of incorrect default gateway. Are you sure you want to change the default gateway?" Press the "OK" button on the message window to accept the gateway. After "OK" is pressed, the page will refresh and bring you back to see your saved changes.

You are now done with the Setup and are ready for the next step; saving your new configuration.

Saving All Settings

Now that you are all done configuring your modem to get on the Internet, you need to save the changes to the internal memory so if you were to powercycle, your settings will not be lost. To begin saving the new settings, click the "Save All Settings" button on the bottom left side of the setup screen.

At this point, the page will refresh and bring you back to the screen you were on before. (Static IP Setup Page)

Do not be alarmed at this point as it looks like your Connection Name, IP Address, and Mask are missing. Do not worry, they are still there, and were successully saved into the system memory. (Click on the "connection0" button on the left side to be sure the settings are still there)

Congratulations! You are now done configuring your StarSmart 4-Port ADSL modem.
