FTP
FTP or File Transfer Protocol is moving the files from your computer onto the Internet. There are many software packages available for this procedure. We have included in your Nemont software a program called WS FTP. This program enables you to view the file directories on your computer in one window and those on the server in another and transfer those files back and forth.
The settings needed to correctly login into your WS FTP program will depend on the method you have chosen in setting up your URL. Please see the URL Setup instructions if you are unclear as to how your website has been implemented.
If you have chosen to set up your URL in PERSONAL space, see the following login information;
| Profile Name: | NEMONT |
| Host Name/Address: | nemontel.net |
| Host Type: | AUTOMATIC DETECT |
| User ID: | username |
| Password: | password |
Click OK and you will begin logging in. Once logged in you will notice the directory of your computer files in one window and that of the server in the other. Double click the public_html file first. All files must be tranfered into this directory if they are to be viewed on the server. You can now find your webpage files and tranfer those files onto the server.
If you have chosen to set up your URL in COMMERICAL space and have registered a domain name, see the following login information;
| Profile Name: | NEMONT |
| Host Name/Address: | Your domain name (Ex. www.domainname.com) |
| Host Type: | AUTOMATIC DETECT |
| Username: | username (Username assigned to your website) |
| Password: | password (Password assigned to your website) |
Click OK and you will begin logging in. Once logged in you will notice the directory of your computer files in one window and that of the server in the other. Double click the data_html file first. All files must be tranfered into this directory if they are to be viewed on the server. You can now find your webpage files and tranfer those files onto the server.
USING VIRTUAL WEB SERVERS: Many webpage development softwares contain virtual web servers that do the work of tranfering webpage files onto the server for you. Though these servers work well if set up correctly, they often times send numerous files that are not related or needed by your web page, needlessly accumulating webspace. Due to the diversity in these virtual web servers and the development software, please contact us if you have difficulty with the set up. The settings will be very similiar to the above. Most will require a destination file on the server. This will be the following depending on your URL setup;
PERSONAL: destination filename: public_html
COMMERICAL: destination filename: data
