Establishing Your URL
After you have created your webpage, there are two methods of setting up your URL; Personal or Commercial.
PERSONAL: Every Nemont Communications customer is assigned 10 megabytes of webspace free with their Internet account. This means that every NCI customer can use this space for what ever they like at no additional charge, provided the website does not exceed 10 meg. (A megabyte is the measurement of space on the server. Ten megabytes is more than adequate for a website) This space can be accessed by anyone on the Internet. The address is www.nemontel.net/~username.
For Example: If you username or email address is ncicust or ncicust@nemontel.net - then the address of your personal space would be www.nemontel.net/~ncicust. Those individuals wanting to access your site would simply type in that address from anywhere to view it.
We have a directory of these websites on the homepage listed under LINKS. This is an economical way of advertising a home business or just keeping grandma in touch with the grandkids from accross the country!
COMMERICAL: Many businesses perfer to register a domain name. These URL's or web addresses are easier to remember but do incur additional costs.
For Example: If my business name is Trouble Shooters then I may want to register a domain name of www.troubleshooters.com.
These URL's are registered with Network Solutions located at www.internic.net. There is a $70.00 fee for two years of registeration. Nemont Communications will register your URL for you at the cost of $10.00. If you will be registering your own domain name and will have Nemont host this page, you will need the following settings for the registration:
Primary host name: smokey.montanavision.net
Primary host address: 216.220.0.1
Secondary host name: ns2.montanavision.net
Secondary host address: 216.220.30.1
Nemont Communications will host your website for a monthly charge of $25.00 per month. At which time the commerical wesite account is setup, a username and password is assigned to the owner for access to that space.
