| News Flash - literally
It just came to my attention that the upward lightning research is
taking on a new life of it's own. While they were using a satellite
called the Compton Gamma Ray Observatory and doing an experiment called
BATSE looking at space gamma ray events - - - apparently in the
mid-1990's they looked toward earth with it and accidentally discovered
gamma ray bursts happening here on good old terra, and seem to be part
of the JSE phenomena. They are called TGF's and a small cube satellite
called a FireFly is to be launched in 2010 to study them.
I added some links for these TGF's on my Curiosity Shop page.
Speculation: I wonder if that will have any effect on
Darwin's Origin of the Species mutation time table. Maybe genetic
mutations possibly from a gamma ray or particle ripping through a cell's
DNA, might be happening at a faster rate than we previously thought. |
