a more complete listing body of work
The SR-71 Blackbird has been retired from military service, and
then finally from NASA as a research platform.
The Forward Swept Wing might still be operating in a
research capacity. Also there are other new vehicles being researched that are based on
the FSW such as the Switchblade concept vehicle
The X-wing also may be somewhat mothballed but the
principles of it are always being revisited for the Oblique Wing and rotorcraft research.
The F-117 diamond Stealth is the most current. On average
one design released to the public every ten years. (A recent program on the Discovery
Channel - people from the F-22 Raptor program and Joint Strike Fighter program are
calling the F-117 old or nearly obsolete ;)
The Sci-Fi
vehicles from the first three Star Wars movies
(episodes 4-5-6) should also
be considered as past, even though the concepts within them might be used at any time.
