The SDI project has undergone a couple metamorphic adaptations over the decades.
Originally SDI and the SDIO the strategic defense initiative organization, it later became BMDO the ballistic missile defense organization, and is now called MDA the missile defense agency.
(To paraphrase an old saying, I'm the ghost in the machine.)
