The Principle of Tithing and First Fruits

Exodus 23:16 "the Feast of Harvest, the first fruits of your labors which you have sown in the field; and the Feast of Ingathering at the end of the year, when you have gathered in the fruit of your labors from the field”. This is saying to us, if we want a harvest give the first of what you bring to your house as income. Lay your tithe down with love for the Lord, to your home church (It needs to be a church that at least believes in the “Born Again” experience) or wherever you get fed the Word and get ministered to. The Biblical laws of seedtime and harvest will not start unless you honor God by tithing first. The tithe, we must understand, belongs to God. The tithe is the first 10% of your gross income, each time you receive income. The tithe also falls under the law of first things or first fruits. We mistakenly say many times that tithing was under the law, but that’s not true. As we have seen in the comment below.

What is this law that governs the first fruits and tithe, in Gen 4:3 it says “And in the process of time it came to pass that Cain brought an offering of the fruit of the ground to the LORD.” The word “fruit” here is #6529 in the Strong’s Concordance. In the Hebrew it is the term periy pronounced (per-ee’) and it means:[first]fruit, reward. This ushered in the law of firstfruits or first things. Also as we can see tithing was set up before the law and is through out scripture. This law is based on a principle of God has blessed you, so you reward Him with the firstfruits (10%)

In Malachi 3:8 He says, "Will a man rob God? Yet you have robbed Me! But you say, 'In what way have we robbed You?' In tithes and offerings (seed)”. I asked the Lord one day, “Father, in view of Your Love, what does it mean that we robbed you? He said, “you robbed Me of the opportunity to bless you financially”. When you honor Him by not taking His part (the first 10%) then God will fulfill His word and not only by rebuking the devour off your finances, but will open the windows of heaven. The religious-minded will say, “ that’s not true” or “it doesn’t say that”. But, I would ask you to sense His heart. We talk about His love; then we bring His love down to our perspective. Our love is performance oriented; God’s love is everlasting. He doesn’t love you based on your performance, but rather on His heart of love towards you, through the Blood of Jesus. When we understand God’s heart of love for us and how much He wants us to prosper we won’t have any problems with tithing and giving. He loves you even if you don’t tithe or offer, but you will not have His blessings on your finances. You see His principles are moved by us. He placed them into this world. If we are obey His principle (laws) we will reap the blessing of that principle. God has a guarantee on it. (Is. 55:11)

When you tithe God says that He rebukes the devourer from our finances. (Mal. 3:11 11 "And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, So that he will not destroy the fruit of your ground, Nor shall the vine fail to bear fruit for you in the field," Says the LORD of hosts”). You see satan intends on giving you plenty of reasons why you can’t or to wait and see if there is enough. The enemy’s design is to steal, kill and destroy (John 10:10) also to lie to you (John 8:44). So my point is this, if you are giving the first fruit (10%) you are bury a lie from the one who wants to devour you finances and get you into terrible debt.

But you see, when we fulfill the law of the first fruits (before anything give God His 10%) He rebukes the devourer off our financial harvest. Some will ask do we give 10% off the gross or net. Well there is a reason it is called the law of FIRSTfruits, The first part. You have to look at your check and see how much was it before your employer took out taxes, etc. From that amount figure out your tithe. If you even take 10% later from it, it’s actually not tithe it’s a tip. You see the firstfruit was meant to redeem the rest of your finances. It puts God’s hand on your money.
